Second prize winner, Youth Category, 2011 United Way of the Lower Mainland's Care to Change video competition, is Britney Steward for Britney. Congratulations Britney!
Britney describes her struggles as a culturally marginalized First Nations youth, and emphasizes how love can counter loneliness and bring us together.
Earlier this year, United Way of the Lower Mainland invited the public to make movies that make a difference. We invited young people and adults to create and enter short films that would educate viewers on topics such as bullying, poverty, vulnerability and isolation, and inspire them to care for others.
We partnered with a great organization called Reel Youth to leverage the activity of their youth video program. We secured generous sponsorship support for the Care to Change Video Competition. The Beat 94.5FM, The Province and VISO Give joined us on this journey.
